About Lynn Forbes

Lynn Forbes

Born in Minneapolis, MN, Forbes moved to Tucson, AZ in 1963 at the age of five. She worked free-lance, designing and sewing costumes for films and theater while raising a family in Mission Viejo, CA. On a trip to Paris In 2001, she had an epiphany in the Louvre …..overcome by the beauty of the work of the great masters, she realized that she wanted to create sculpture. After starting a class at a Saddleback College the same year, she showed in Lu Martin Galleries and La Botegga dell’Accquaforte Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA. Lynn began teaching  figurative sculpture at Irvine Fine Arts Center, Irvine, CA- 2003-2005 before  establishing the Lynn Forbes  School in 2007. Myriads of students have discovered their love for creating figurative sculpture from ceramic clay in the intervening fifteen years as the studio has flourished. Lynn has created many commissions and shown her work, including displays of life size pieces for five successive years at San Diego Botanical Gardens in Encinitas. In 2022, she and her husband retired to Tuscany, Italy where she continues to create sculpture and enjoy the Italian lifestyle. The School/Studio/Gallery (now Lieu de Sculpture)  in Carlsbad continues today owned and run by sculptor/educator Dana McCullough.
