Returning to Nova Scotia, he was employed with Atlantic Bridge Company in Mahone Bay. He
was also a former member of Big Brothers in Mahone Bay. After leaving Atlantic Bridge
Company, he began a second career as a wood sculptor, concentrating on creating miniature
portraits of whales in mahogany. Ron had received international recognition when in 1992, at the
prestigious Mystic Annual International Art Exhibition, with 5, 000 marine artists applying and only
100 accepted, he received one of the 10 coveted Awards of Excellence.
